Ubuntu v25.04 (Plucky Puffin) + v24.04.2 LTS (Noble Numbat) Desktop/Server x64

Linux Ubuntu / Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Linux distribution based on Debian, but differs from Debian in several ways. The name Ubuntu comes from a South African term meaning “Humanity Towards Others.”
Ubuntu releases a new version every six months. In addition, each version of Ubuntu is supported for nine months after its release. For LTS versions such as 20.04 (focal), instead of nine months of support, it is supported for three years for the PC version and five years for the server version.

One of the main points of interest in the Ubuntu project is its emphasis on accessibility and universality. For this reason, the software is available to all nationalities. It is very easy to work with, and even users who are unfamiliar with it can easily get used to its environment.
All versions of Ubuntu are free forever. Ubuntu CDs are sent free of charge to those who request them by e-mail. There is also a project called Edubuntu, which, as the name suggests, is very suitable for use in classrooms and educational environments. Another project is Kubuntu, which uses the KDE Desktop.

The Ubuntu family includes:

  • Ubuntu Desktop
  • Ubuntu Server Edition
  • Ubuntu
  • Edubuntu
  • Ubuntu
  • Ubuntu MID Edition
  • Xubuntu

The Wikimedia Foundation, the organization that supports the Wikipedia project, announced that it is migrating its server collection to the Ubuntu distribution. The migration is part of the foundation’s effort to make it easier to maintain the 400 servers of the foundation’s various projects that previously used various versions of Redhat and Fedora.

Ubuntu environment:
Ubuntu uses GNOME by default. Of course, spins with other user environments such as XFCE and KDE are also available to users under the names Xubuntu and Kubuntu. Also, only essential software is included in the package, and to install the rest of the software provided by Ubuntu, you must use the Internet or obtain a DVD version of it.

Note:
You can install this operating system alongside Windows , but it is recommended to use VirtualBox or VMware to install this operating system and learn and work with it.

Super-fast, easy to use and free, the Ubuntu operating system powers millions of desktops, netbooks and servers around the world. Ubuntu does everything you need it to. It’ll work with your existing PC files, printers, cameras and MP3 players. And it comes with thousands of free apps.
